DAB Acting Governor, UNDP Head for Afghanistan Discuss Financial Services Development
July 20, 2024 – The acting governor of Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB), Noor Ahmad Agha, met with the resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Afghanistan, Stephen Rodriques, in the main office of the DAB, and discussed the development of financial services.
In this meeting, DAB's acting governor praised the UNDP efforts for facilitating microfinance and decreasing unemployment, and urged further cooperation and collaboration in this regard.
He added that financing small businesses and increasing Islamic finances play a key role in the country’s economy, and can contribute to creating job opportunities for the people.
Praising the DAB's achievement in stabilizing the Afghani currency, Stephen stated that after the Islamic emirate takeover, significant development has been achieved in inflation control, overall economic development, export growth, and preventing corruption throughout the country.
The head of UNDP in Afghanistan, Stephen Rodriques added that the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Afghanistan making an effort to advance electronic payment and finance microfinance for the improvement of the financial services to achieve further development in this regard.
