DAB Holds Supreme Council Meeting
The Supreme Council of Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) held a meeting chaired by Sediqullah Khalid, First Deputy Governor of DAB, who also serves as Deputy Chair of the Bank’s Supreme Council.
The meeting comprehensively discussed key issues concerning the country’s monetary policies, the current condition of the banking sector, the development of Islamic banking, the expansion of electronic banking, and broader public access to financial services, and necessary decisions were made.
In his opening remarks, the DAB First Deputy Governor emphasized the implementation of effective monetary policies, assessment of the current condition of the banking sector, continued efforts to develop Islamic banking, expansion of electronic banking, and providing greater access to financial services for the public.
Sediqullah Khalid also highlighted the value and stability of the Afghani, saying that despite global economic challenges, the Afghani had maintained its stability over the past year compared with many regional and international currencies. According to him, this development demonstrates the effectiveness of DAB’s well-calibrated and targeted monetary policies.
Speaking on the condition of the banking sector, the DAB First Deputy Governor stated that the level of public deposits had increased and that significant progress had been made in the sector. He said these developments demonstrate the strengthening and stability of the banking sector and increased public confidence in the country’s banking system.
At the meeting, reports on the activities of various sectoral directorates of DAB during the past months of 1405 were presented. The reports comprehensively covered achievements, proposals, and existing challenges in various areas, including the implementation of monetary policies, strengthening the banking and non-banking financial sectors, developing Islamic banking, advancing payment systems, and other related areas.
The meeting also discussed and exchanged views on the current year’s work plans and upcoming programs. Necessary recommendations and proposals were presented and reviewed to further improve work processes, enhance the effectiveness of activities, and achieve the set objectives.
The Supreme Council of DAB is the Bank’s highest decision-making body and convenes four times annually. The Council reviews key issues related to the country’s monetary policies, banking sector, and financial system and makes the necessary decisions to ensure and strengthen the country’s monetary and financial stability.
