Zones and Branches

Over the past years, following transformation and development across all sectors, the country’s financial system has achieved significant milestones and undergone fundamental changes. To ensure the continued improvement of the banking system and strengthen coordination within the national financial system, Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) aligned its provincial offices with internationally accepted standards. To improve coordination, seven zones were established. Accordingly, the seven zonal directorates of DAB, like other directorates and senior sections within DAB’s organizational structure, were established in 2005 to provide banking services.

Each of these zones has provincial branches and many teller counters across the provinces. These provincial branches shall submit their daily, weekly, and monthly reports to their respective zones.

Directorate General of Central Zone:

This zone has six provincial branches, seven city branches, and one teller counter at Kabul International Airport, as listed below:

  1. Kapisa Provincial Branch
  2. Logar Provincial Branch
  3. Panjshir Provincial Branch
  4. Bamyan Provincial Branch
  5. Parwan Provincial Branch
  6. Maidan Wardak Provincial Branch
  7. First City Branch
  8. Second City Branch
  9. Third City Branch
  10. Fourth City Branch
  11. Fifth City Branch
  12. Sixth City Branch
  13. Seventh City Branch
  14. Teller Counter at Kabul International Airport

General Directorate of the Western Zone:

This zone has seven provincial branches, one city branch, and one teller counter, as listed below:

  1. Herat Provincial Branch
  2. Nimroz Provincial Branch
  3. Farah Provincial Branch
  4. Badghis Provincial Branch
  5. Ghor Provincial Branch
  6. Islam Qala Provincial Branch
  7. Torghundi Provincial Branch
  8. Herat City Branch
  9. Nimroz Teller Counter

Directorate General of South-Western Zone:

This zone has six provincial branches and one city branch in Kandahar, as listed below:

  1. Kandahar Provincial Branch
  2. Uruzgan Provincial Branch
  3. Helmand Provincial Branch
  4. Zabul Provincial Branch
  5. Daikundi Provincial Branch
  6. Spin Boldak Provincial Branch
  7. Kandahar City Branch

Directorate of General Eastern Zone:

This zone has five provincial branches and one city branch, as listed below:

  1. Jalalabad Provincial Branch
  2. Laghman Provincial Branch
  3. Kunar Provincial Branch
  4. Nuristan Provincial Branch
  5. Torkham Provincial Branch
  6. City Branch

Directorate General of South-Eastern Zone:

This zone has seven provincial branches, as listed below:

  1. Gardez Provincial Branch
  2. Khost Provincial Branch
  3. Ghazni Provincial Branch
  4. Paktika Provincial Branch
  5. Paktia’s Dand-e-Patan Branch
  6. Khost’s Ghulam Khan Branch
  7. Paktika’s Argun District Branch

Directorate General of North-Eastern Zone:

This zone has four provincial branches and one teller counter at Sher Khan Bandar, as listed below:

  1. Kunduz Provincial Branch
  2. Pul-e-Khumri Provincial Branch
  3. Badakhshan Provincial Branch
  4. Takhar Provincial Branch
  5. Sher Khan Bandar Teller Counter

Directorate General of Northern Zone:

This zone has five provincial branches and two teller counters (Hairatan and Aqina), as listed below:
