DAB Holds Meeting with IMF on the Commencement of New ECF Program
Wednesday, July 08, 2020- Mr. Ajmal Ahmadi, the acting Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank held meeting with the IMF delegation on the commencement of the new ECF program.
The IMF and Ministry of Finance technical teams and DAB leadership held discussions in relation to the new three years Extended Credit Facility Program. These discussions will continue in respect thereof till July 16, 2020.
It's worth mentioning that the three parties provided insight into the issues concerning the continuity of structural reforms, strengthening of Macroeconomics and policy development, economic growth and development of the country in the coming years, keeping the inflation and exchange rate low, supporting the development of physical and human capital, strengthening regional cooperation, poverty reduction, and other important issues.
Likewise, the International Monetary Fund and Da Afghanistan Bank exchanged their views on a number of indicators to pave the ground for creating financial and economic stability and placed emphasis on mutual cooperation in this regard.
Meanwhile, the IMF technical team emphasized that technical discussions will be held in the near future to address these issues so as to ensure that the replacement of the Financial and Economic Reforms Program takes place in accordance with the objectives of Afghanistan.
