DAB Holds Meeting with UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan

December 08, 2022- Acting Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank, Mr. Abdul Qahir (Haji Idres) met with Ms. Roza Otunbayeva, United Nations’ Special Representative for Afghanistan and Head of UNAMA, and a number of important issues were discussed in the meeting.

Insights were provided into alleviation of poverty and unemployment, humanitarian assistance, foreign investments, banking transfers and relations, foreign exchange reserves of Afghanistan, micro finances, financial inclusion and other key financial and banking issues.

The Acting Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank, Mr. Abdul Qahir (Haji Idres) said that DAB is committed to maintaining finest relationships with national and international organizations, in light of the international rules and regulations and DAB will never withhold its cooperation in this regard.

While extending his gratitude to international community for their assistance, he called on the UN Special Representative for Afghanistan to cooperate in creating an appropriate environment in order to remove poverty, unemployment and other sufferings from Afghanistan, taking into account of the best international practices, so that they will be able to prevent any negative impacts of the said phenomena on national and international levels.

It has to be mentioned that Senior Policy Advisor of Da Afghanistan Bank, Mr. Lutfulhaq Noor “Pasarlay” also participated in this meeting, who thoroughly discussed the connecting of Afghanistan’s banking sector with international banking system. Also, he deemed this issue of utmost importance for economic growth and business development. 

It is worth mentioning that United Nations’ Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ms. Roza Otunbayeva also insisted on having finest relations with DAB and pledged to share the message of DAB leadership in the upcoming UN Assembly.
