One of Da Afghanistan Bank's key duties is to issue or register licenses and regulate and supervise banks, FX dealers (FXDs), and Money Service Providers (MSPs).
To ensure a sound and stable financial system, banks, FX dealers, and MSPs shall be supervised, on-site audits, off-site analyses, and assessments conducted, and disciplinary measures and enforcement adopted.
Afghanistan’s financial system consists of banks and non-bank financial institutions. In addition to banks, FXDs, MSPs, and electronic money institutions form part of non-bank financial institutions. The DAB is responsible for granting licenses and supervising these institutions.
