DAB’s New Acting Governor Introduced

March 25, 2023- Mr. Alhaj Hedayatullah Badri was introduced as the new acting Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank in a ceremony held at the Central Bank of Da Afghanistan Bank. He was appointed as DAB’s acting Governor on March 22, 2023 based on Decree no. (33) of the Amir al-Mu'minin Mawlawi Hibatullah “Akhundzada”.

At the outset, Mr. Mawlawi Saifuddin Taieb, acting Director and Deputy of the Administrative Office of the Prime Minister said that changes in positions of officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is one of the principles of the Government. He added that the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan make such changes keeping in view the national interest and welfare of the people. He mentioned the achievements of Mr. Badri and called him one of the eminent personalities of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in the field of Finance.

Mr. Taieb extended his gratitude to Mr. Haji Idris, former acting Governor of DAB for well performing the tasks assigned to him during his tenure, especially his efforts pertaining to the Afghani price stability and effective management of the banking sector, and referred to him as a kind, wise and patriotic person.

Subsequently, Alhaj Hedayatullah Badri, the acting Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank said that we respect the orders and instructions issued by the IEA leadership and carry out the assigned duties keeping in mind the principles of patriotism and public welfare, and deem Allah as our witness in the execution of every task.

During his speech, Mr. Badri referred to his work in the Ministry of Finance and said that he had significant achievements when he was responsible for performing the Ministry affairs. He mentioned his achievements in combatting corruption and centralizing and collecting revenues during the past one and a half years. He added that for the first time, Afghanistan’s budget was procured from domestic revenues without foreign aids. At the same time, he extended his gratitude to all employees of the Ministry of Finance for this achievement and called it an outcome of their hard work and tireless efforts.

In regard to his planned programs to improve DAB affairs, Mr. Hedayatullah Badri said that he will make productive efforts for effective implementation of the monetary policies, further strengthening of the banking sector, maintaining constructive relations with countries of the world to improve banking sector relations and releasing of foreign exchange reserves with cooperation of professional and experienced staff of Da Afghanistan Bank in the future.

At the conclusion of this meeting, Mr. Abdul Qahir (Haji Idris), former acting Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank referred to Mr. Badri as a service-oriented, spiritual and sympathetic personality while wishing him success in performing his duties and responsibilities as the new acting Governor. In addition, he requested DAB staff members to cooperate well with him and work for further strengthening of the banking sector and the successful implementation of the monetary policies.
