DAB Governor Participates in IMF’s Spring Meetings

April 2019 – Da Afghanistan Bank Governor Mr. Khalil Sediq and accompanying delegation participated in IMF’s spring meetings and its subordinate meetings.

IMF’s Spring Meetings, held on 2nd week of this April in Washington, was attended by central bankers and ministers of finance. In this meeting, latest world economic situations, future economic challenges and outlooks as well as monetary and fiscal policies of advanced, developing, emerging economies and least developed countries were discussed.

On the sidelines of the meetings, DAB delegation made bilateral and multilateral meetings with IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde, IMF Deputy Managing Director for Middle East and Central Asia Mr. Mitsuhiro Furusawa, United States Central Bank officials, Governors and officials from important international banks and discussed on desired issues.

In these gatherings, DAB Governor briefed on Afghanistan’s achievements and developments towards stability of general price levels and stability and soundness of the country’s financial sector and talked on interested topics.

In a different occasion, DAB Governor participated in a meeting hosted by US-based Afghanistan Embassy dedicated for top US Corporations willing to invest in Afghanistan and briefed to traders and investors on the banking facilities and conveniences available in the country.
